MOSCOW, may 24 — RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Muslims of Russia on the occasion Eid al-Fitr and said that the Muslim community makes an invaluable contribution to international peace, said press service of the Kremlin.
the President noted that the feast day has a special spiritual meaning, emphasizing that for centuries, it is customary to celebrate not only fervent prayer, but also attention to those who need help.
“I Note that the Russian followers of Islam with a deep reverence for historical, cultural and religious traditions of their fathers and grandfathers, and attach to them the younger generation. The Muslim community of Russia actively participates in the life of the country, making an invaluable contribution to the maintenance of interethnic peace and civil accord in the society, strengthening the institution of family, education of youth” — are in the congratulation Putin’s words.
He added that today, in terms of spread of dangerous diseases, responsible for humanitarian, charitable mission of the Muslim clergy, religious organizations, all Muslims countries are in high demand and serves the preservation of life and health of people.
Eid al-Fitr, or Eid al-Fitr Islamic holiday celebrated in honor of the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, during which Muslims do not eat or drink from dawn until sunset. This year the day of the beginning of the celebration of the Eid al-Adha according to the lunar calendar identified on may 24.
