The journalists of German TV channel MDR, who called Soviet troops stationed on the territory of the former GDR “occupiers”, it is worthwhile to study history, so as not to reach straight to whitewash Nazism, said the assistant to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky. Medinsky noted that the Nuremberg Tribunal and the documents that were the basis of the UN “clearly and distinctly explained who was the invader, occupier and criminal in the [Second world] war.” According to the politician, in the material of the German TV channel is a substitution of concepts. Journalists tried to convey the idea that the war in Germany “to replace one totalitarian regime replaced another,” he added.
Medina also reminded of the story of the unification of Germany in 1990, and noted the direct role and contribution of the Soviet Union.
