A nationwide vote on the amendments planned for introduction to the Constitution of Russia will be held in the summer. As reported RIA Novosti, said the Deputy of the state Duma Gennady Onishchenko.
In January, as reported by “the Rambler”, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin proposed to make the Constitution a number of changes. 20 January, he submitted to the state Duma a draft law. On January 23 the deputies adopted in the first reading, 10 March — second reading, and on March 11 in third reading. On 11 March, the Federation Council approved the law.
A nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution was scheduled for April 22 but was postponed indefinitely due to pandemic coronavirus infection COVID-19.
Today Onishchenko gave a press conference. In the course of it he expressed confidence that the voting on amendments to the Constitution will be held in the summer, likely in June. According to the former head of the Federal service for supervision of consumer rights protection and human welfare (Rospotrebnadzor), probably this will be possible.
“It (the ballot. — Approx. ed.) a very important circumstance, although the law has already been passed — it has passed through the State Duma and the Federation Council”, — he added.
