the Most effective strategy against the spread of COVID-19 is the alternating quarantine and partial lifting of restrictions for six years. To this conclusion came a group of international scientists, writes European Journal of Epidemiology.
a team of international scientists used the model to predict the distribution COVID-19 in 16 countries. They assessed how different approaches for containment of a pandemic affect the level of hospitalization and the number of patients who may require intensive therapy.
Scientists have considered three scenarios: no intervention, alternating strict social distancing and partial withdrawal restrictions, as well as the cycles of strict quarantine, with subsequent mitigation.
According to scientists, the best alternative may be to cycle the 50-day moderate limits and 30-day exemptions for 18 months. Such a compromise helps to reduce adverse consequences for the economy and to prevent the spread of the disease. At the same time, this approach does not help in reducing the number of severe cases below the permissible limit.
