During a pandemic coronavirus and the era of postpandemic Russia needs to conduct extensive work on improving the quality of higher education and the development of science. The goal in an interview with TASS called academician of RAS, rector of MGIMO University Anatoly Torkunov.
According to him, Russia needs to create a much more dense intellectual environment, developing all educational institutions at once, not just several leading.
“we Need competition between universities and research centers”, — said the academician.
Torkunov abstained from answering the question of whether there is in Russia a massive shift to online learning, but promised that I will return to this topic in six months or a year.
In many Russian universities, all full-time classes, including lectures and practical, was moved to the online format due to the spread of the coronavirus on the recommendation of the Ministry of education. As was stated by the head of the Ministry Valery Falkov, in this mode of learning has transferred about 80 percent of all higher education institutions of the country, from the jurisdiction of the Ministry of education — 100 percent, wrote “Interfax”.
