The archaeologists during the survey of the construction site in Hebei province in Northern China found a complex of tombs Dating back to the period of the Tang dynasty (618 ad – 907 ad).
As reported by China.org.cn discovery was made in the County Fuchen. The ruins were examined by the staff of provincial Institute for preservation of cultural values. It was found that most of the tombs for several centuries was built on "typical" projects.
Their burial chambers had a modest size: 2.4 meters long, 1.2 meters in width and 80 cm height. The tomb was built of brick. Inside, usually, were pottery and copper coins.
It is for coins quickly scientists dated the age of the graves. The age of most of the shrines in excess of 1,200 years. Some of them belong to the era of the new Century – "Golden age" of the Tang dynasty and the whole history of China.
This period of prosperity lasted from 713 in 741 BC. Many copper coins found in the graves, were minted in the era of the new Century.
According to Qi Honsa, Director of the Institute for preservation of cultural values, belonging to the reign of the Tang dynasty also point carvings on the bricks and construction of the tombs.
In addition, next to this civil cemetery archaeologists have found ancient wells, and fragments of pottery. This indicates that the neighborhood was probably located in a residential neighborhood with industrial workshops.
One of the tombs found was richer than the others. It was discovered not only copper coins of the era of the new Century, but lacquered bowls, white porcelain, red pottery and other ritual objects.
A few coins were put into the mouth of the deceased. Red ceramic vessels were placed over his head, in the upper right corner of the tomb. Interestingly, these vessels were found the bones of small animals.
According to Qi, study of the tombs will help in studying the lifestyle and burial customs of people who lived on the plains Habia during the reign of the Tang dynasty.
