Russia is alarmed by the growing tension between the US and China, said Deputy foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, during a lecture for students of MGIMO. He expressed the opinion that after the pandemic coronavirus political collision of these countries are unlikely to cease.
According to Ryabkov, some of the processes that developed before the outbreak COVID-19 more slowly during the pandemic was accelerated, and “the buildup of confrontation, the severity of competition between Washington and Beijing now visibly, anxious”, – RIA Novosti quotes the diplomat. The United States has increased political and psychological pressure on China in all directions. No issues on the current international agenda, where within the concept of rivalry between the two powers, the Americans would add an element of pressure on China, said Ryabkov.
“I don’t think after COVID-19 rush back, and the situation begins to normalize, we will see a reduction in the extent of these political clashes between the United States and China”, – said the Deputy head of the Russian foreign Ministry.
Earlier, the Chairman of the international Affairs Committee in the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said that in the US, the Chinese theme of “run in” as an analogue of “Russian intervention”. According to him, a surge of negative emotions in relation to someone outside of America, whether Iran, North Korea, Russia or now China, is not caused by objective circumstances and by certain processes in the United States.
