From 1 April to 11 may, the traffic police revealed more than 35,5 thousand cases of driving while intoxicated. This is 3.4 percent less than in the same period last year. In the 20 thousands of cases the drivers refused to undergo a medical examination. This is 3.1 percent lower than a year earlier.
Total from January to April was more than 4 thousand accidents involving drunk or refused from medical examination of drivers. They killed more than 700 people, 5.7 thousand were injured.
it is Noteworthy that accidents caused by drunk drivers have the highest severity compared to other types of accidents. Since the beginning of this year it was 11.2 fatalities per 100 casualties. The average level of severity of the consequences from road accidents in the whole country for the first 4 months of this year was 7.6 fatalities per 100 casualties.
Recall that for driving while intoxicated or refusing medical examination of the driver’s licence for a period of 1.5 to 2 years and fined on 30 thousand roubles.
