Ukrainian regions want to secede from the country if Russia agrees to provide full protection and support. Such opinion in conversation with URA.RU expressed by the former Minister of defence DND Igor Strelkov.
“Without external support from Russia nothing is going to happen. While in Russia will not be in power people who will put a clear foreign policy objectives on the reunification of Russia — reunification not on the basis of “carry us all, and we have behind the stand”, and willing to go to drastic economic, military, political and even just political steps up to this moment no disintegration of Ukraine does not happen” — said the Agency interlocutor.
According to Strelkova, the residents of the regions of Ukraine, who wanted to get out of the country, changed their point of view after he saw what was happening in the Donbass. “Odessa, Kherson, Dnepropetrovsk — it’s not specific people that have something they want. These are vast regions inhabited by millions of people, which also has its own elite, an oligarchy, the power of influence. In 2014, the majority of the population [of these regions] were treated quite loyal to secede from Ukraine. And some of them are loyal to react to connection with Russia following the example of Crimea. But they [the activists who advocate reunification with Russia] is so badly beaten by life and the Ukrainian authorities that expect a serious popular movement now is naive,” explained the ex-Minister of defence DND.
Earlier, the Russian Senator Vladimir Jabbarov said that Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia and Odessa can leave the Ukraine, the Agency reports Nation News. The Chairman of the Duma Committee for international Affairs Natalya Poklonskaya explained that it is not necessary to make predictions about the disintegration of the country, in order not to complicate and without that uneasy Russian-the Ukrainian relations.
