On the Third Symphony, Mahler was working during the summer holidays of 1895 and 1896 years. The basis of the works of composer put the idea on the inexhaustible creative power of nature. This idea is elaborated in two large parts: the first presents the overall picture of the world with a variety of manifestations of life, and secondly, the composer interprets the previously mentioned forms, from first flower to divine love. Sixth, the final part, the composer in letters to friends unofficially called “What love tells me”.
Third Symphony, first performed only 6 years after it was written. The premiere took place on 9 June 1902 in the German town of Krefeld under the baton of Mahler.
