The Russian foreign Ministry commented on the message, released by the White house, which argues that the victory over Nazism was won by the US and Britain. This greeting was sent out by the social networks.
“Many received a screenshot of the tweet of the White house follows: "may 8, 1945, the United States and Britain have won the victory over Nazism. The American spirit will always win. It always ends” – wrote the representative of the foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in Facebook.
Zakharova said that she had the impression that someone wanted to reduce the importance of the joint statement of presidents of Russia and USA, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Elbe.
The diplomat stressed that it was sung “spirit of the Elbe” and mentioned the example of the unification of States. However, in the subsequent message the White house was celebrated exclusively “American spirit”, and the winners announced only to the United States and Britain.
Zakharov believes that it is impossible to accept such statements.
“Call it what you want: falsification, mockery of common sense, the rewriting of history. But when such a comment is allowed by the official authorities of the country that calls itself "the leader of the free world" and "defender of democracy," an implacable fighter against fakes, that is intolerable,” – concluded Zakharov.
Earlier, the “Rambler” reported that experts said: the political leaders of many countries trying to belittle the achievements of the Soviet people in the victory over Nazi Germany.
