UN Secretary-General antónio Guterres urged to remember the lessons of 1945. In his address he recalled the human suffering and the horrors of Nazism, the need to pay tribute to the millions of soldiers who died on the battlefields of the great Patriotic war.
“the Understanding of the special importance of international solidarity and universal values led to the creation of the UN, whose main objective is to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war,” citing Guterres writes RIA Novosti.
UN Secretary-General noted that today the world is passing a tough test in the fight against coronavirus. And therefore it is especially important to remember the lessons of history, to join efforts in search of a cure for the disease, and most importantly – in building a future that thrives on “peace, security and dignity for all.”
