The gas storage facilities in Germany have almost reached the 95 percent mark. On Wednesday evening the fill level was 94.97 percent. This means that an important goal has already been achieved three weeks earlier than planned.

The filling of Germany’s gas storage facilities is making progress despite the lack of deliveries from Russia. As the website of Europe’s gas infrastructure operators (GIE) revealed late on Wednesday evening, the level rose by 0.28 percentage points to 94.97 percent within 24 hours. The Federal Network Agency gives the filling level as 94.67 percent.

According to a federal regulation, the facilities must be 95 percent full on November 1st. This value has now almost been reached on average for all systems. However, the regulation stipulates that every storage facility must comply with the 95 percent requirement. This is not the case – some plants are already above this, but others are still below.

The level in the Rehden reservoir is only 82.74 percent.

The storage tanks are intended to help Germany’s companies, authorities and households get enough energy in the upcoming heating season. Mathematically, the full gas storage would only be sufficient for about two winter months to cover domestic demand.

Therefore, according to the Federal Network Agency, imports via liquid gas terminals and energy saving remain the order of the day. “The Federal Network Agency expressly emphasizes the importance of economical gas consumption,” it continues.

A leak was discovered on the Druzhba oil pipeline on Tuesday evening. This was announced by the Polish operator. Oil flows from Russia to Europe via the pipeline. It also supplies the refinery in Schwedt.

More than twice as many flights, not enough employees, threats against the staff: employees at Hamad International Airport in Qatar raise serious allegations. They now received a tremendous internal letter.

In the North Sea, in German waters, huge amounts of gas are stored, enclosed in slate rock, which could be extracted using the fracking method. There are also untapped deposits in the North Sea. Would that solve the energy crisis?
