Hong Kong researchers developed a disinfectant that can destroy all the viruses that come into contact with him. Spray with a polymer coating kills 99.9% of viruses, such as measles, mumps and rubella, according to 9 News.
It was developed by scientists at Hong Kong University of science and technology and tested in several medical centers in April. Although it has not been tested on COVID-19, the spray was effective against the cat calicivirus, especially sustainable coronavirus. Spray that destroys calicivirus, is considered the “gold standard efficiency of disinfection and more stable than coronaviruses, such as the one that responsible for the epidemic COVID-19”, reads the statement of the University administration. Because the virus is technically not a living being, it would be wrong to describe the spray as “killing” the virus, the researchers noted.
Spray acts as a coating for surfaces, such as concrete, wood, glass, plastic, fabric, leather and textiles, keeping items clean of most germs within a few months. It doesn’t change the tactile feel or appearance of these surfaces during use, said scientists, adding that the spray has also proven its effectiveness against rubella, avian influenza and H1N1.
the Coating is applied to the surface in children’s institutions, schools and school buses, churches and shopping centers. Currently, the researchers are covering their water pipes and sewer drains in Hong Kong, to prevent contamination and corrosion.
